What is the Plus Layer?

The Plus Layer is the heart of iTop+. It consists of numerous extensions developed and maintained by ITOMIG, included in every iTop+ product — from Ready to Architect. These extensions transform the proven open-source platform iTop into a solution that meets the demands of professional IT organisations in the DACH region.

The Plus Layer improves iTop in three essential dimensions: IT security, technical integration capability and functional depth.

IT Security

The Plus Layer extends iTop with security features that are indispensable in professional environments:

• Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Additional login protection for all users
• Extended Permission Concepts: Granular control over who can view and edit which data
• Audit Extensions: Improved audit tables for complete traceability of changes — originally developed by ITOMIG and now incorporated into the iTop core
• Session Management: Extended control over active sessions and automatic timeouts

Technical Integration Capability

iTop+ integrates seamlessly into complex IT landscapes — thanks to extended interfaces and connectors:

• Webhooks: The webhook functionality was originally developed by ITOMIG and is now part of the iTop core. The Plus Layer also includes extended webhook features.
• Enhanced REST API Functions: Extended API endpoints for deeper integration with third-party systems
• Email Integration: Extended functions for automatic ticket creation and updates via email
• Data Import and Export: Improved tools for exchanging data with other systems

Functional Depth

The Plus Layer extends iTop's ITSM functionality with professional features for daily use:

• Extended Ticketing Workflows: Optimised processes for incident, request and change management
• UI Improvements: Enhanced user interface with additional views, filters and display options
• Enterprise Service Management (ESM): Functions that make iTop usable beyond IT — for HR, facility management or other service areas
• Extended Notifications: More flexible notification rules and channels
• Reporting Extensions: Additional dashboards and evaluation options

Quality Commitment

All Plus Layer extensions are actively maintained by ITOMIG and tested with every iTop release. They are upgrade-safe and an integral part of the ITIL certification (Accredited Tool Vendor via PeopleCert), where 15 of 20 ITIL Practices were recognised as fully implemented.
